Engagement sessions are a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to capture the love, joy, excitement and anticipation in the days leading up to your wedding.
You said YES! Let’s celebrate.
This is such n exciting time in your life and some celebration is in the cards. Planning a wedding can be stressful, there’s a bunch of decisions to be made. This is the time to set that all aside and spends some time having fun and celebrating together, before all the craziness.
An engagement session gives you unique and beautiful professional photos to share with all your friends and family. Use these to announce your engagement and share your love story! You can use them for any digital or printed materials for the wedding like save-the-dates or invitations.
This is special time and season for you. Having these photos to look back on and reminisce in 10, 20, 50 years is so special. The power of photography allows you to document and have these memories of specific times in your life that you can look back on. The location for the shoot can contribute to this. Choose a location that has some meaning or connection to your love story and relationship.
This is the perfect opportunity to get to know your photographer and they can get to know you as well! It gives the photographer a chance to figure out what works best for you. Establishing a relationship with your wedding photographer is key. The more familiar, the more relaxed and comfortable.
This is the time to experiment, learn and find comfort in being in front of the camera. Not everyone feels comfortable in front of the camera and that is okay. This is the opportunity to see yourself in pictures, get practice in before the big day and allows you the time to ease the nerves when you are not the center of attention.
Rebecca and Godfrey’s Wedding was simply beautiful. I had a wonderful time getting to know them and celebrating their love. Check out some images from their big day!
This couple had a few surprised up their sleeves. They invited the Syracuse Orange Mascot to their wedding! Rebecca played her flute for her friends and family as well. Those were some key moments that made the wedding their own and super unique to their interests and desires.
It was such a beautiful day for this pretty couple.
Nick & Andrea had a small intimate wedding at The Wurlitzer and I was all for the upstairs warehouse area. They were not sure if they would like the images up there and I reassured them that they would be KILLER!
They were referred by someone who used to babysit my daughter. Referrals are the best, am I right?
These love birds were set up on a blind date…a very successful blind date.
The Details
Details are important. Check out the details from the day! They are just a small clip of the story, but dang are they beautiful images.
The First Look
As I tell all my brides… just do it. It’s an imitate moment where you can share together and not have to keep it together in front of all your guests. This groom was BLOWN away!
Wedding Party
Although they had a small wedding party, they knew how to have fun!
The Bride and Groom
Okay, I have a lot to say here. Hang on tight.
Roger and Rockie are the PERFECT match. They had their engagement session at the same location we went to the above images. It’s important to them. They are so passionate with a side of goofy. I love it. They were my ideal client. Rockie has a special surprise for Roger on the day of their wedding. She also booked a boudoir session and decided to get a black book to gift to her man! He LOVED it (maybe not the opening it in front of the camera part.. but we wanted to get the reaction)
The Ceremony
Short and Sweet! It was such a beautiful ceremony. But let’s talk about the location for a minute!
Niagara Crossing is the location, its balcony works so well for wedding ceremonies! The only complaint was a man mowing his lawn during the ceremony but i’m sure he does that for all the wedding they do just to be that guy. When I got there, my phone said “Welcome to Canada” as we were just across the river in Lewiston.
The Reception
Time to PARTY! They had some amazing moments. If you know me, you know I LOVE getting moments with the older folks. The reason I have such a passion for those images is because those people will more than likely not be in your life a whole lot longer. There was also a moment where they got grandma out of her wheel chair and held her up to dance and I thought that was so special.
On May 20th, 2022 Josh and Megan said “I do”
It was small, intimate, and beautiful.
Buffalo Botanical Gardens was the perfect choice!
Josh and Megan decided to have their first dance and parent dances follow right after the ceremony before family portraits. T
hey plan on having a small reception next year with more family and friends.
Steven + Kristina found me last minute when they found out the photographer they booked was moving out of state. When I saw the inquiry in my inbox, and realized that they needed assistance I could not back down, especially when I read that it was at The Sterling. After talking with the couple, I knew that they were a good fit for me. It was such a beautiful day…
Getting Ready: The Venue had such a beautiful bridal suite. The lighting and colors in the room was perfect for my style.
First Look: Although the cat walk was tricky to get the right angle, I think its such a great idea! It’s worth having a second shooter with you to get the right angle! I love the way that he looked at her <3 EVEN WHEN THEY ARE ALREADY MARRIED! Yes, they were already married… Thanks to covid.
Ceremony: The ceremony location was pretty. The only downfall was the sunshine mid day. As photographers, we work with what we got and have to adjust for various lighting situations. Check put the beautiful building behind them tho! ugh! The windows are so cool!
Wedding Party: OMG This was such a fun group of people! As you can tell, they had so much fun! From posing like the opposite sex, to screaming at the top of their lungs for some fun shots, It was amazing.
The Couple: UGHH! Such a beautiful couple! I can not express enough about how much love there is between them. The way the look at each other, the way they LOVED every moment of the day… LOVE
PARTYYYY: They finally got to celebrate their LOVE! It was such a great time and good people. They ended the night with a sparkler send off!
There is always so much going on with wedding planning that sometimes you get so stressed about what you should have ready for the morning of your wedding. Today I would like to help you out by providing some TIPS to make “Getting Ready” photos a breeze! I have a wedding guide that I have created to help you be prepared for your wedding photos!
Having everything together makes it so much easier for the photographer yo capture beautiful images, but it will also make the bride feel less stressful coming into wedding day. That is why I have made a wedding guide.
The first look is when a couple sees each other for the first time on their wedding day. This intimate moment typically makes for an emotional photo opportunity.
You can get many of the photos taken before the ceremony: It gave you a moment before the day officially started to connect with one another and take a deep breath. You can get all the bridal party shots and some couple shots before the ceremony to see some time.
It gives you and your partner a few moments together: The “First Look” does not spoil the ceremony. You will be full of emotions no matter what. It’s a moment you can be emotional without people watching you.
You can capture an emotional moment on camera: A wedding is an intimate, emotional experience, and a first look means I can capture a couple together in that moment. Yes, walking down the aisle is emotional, too, but you’re not together in those photographs.
You'll have to get ready earlier: If you’re having a ceremony earlier in the day, a first look will mean you have to be ready even earlier than you’d planned.
Lighting may not be ideal: Your photographer and videographer will try to be discrete and as far away as possible, but we will still be around. Lighting during a first look isn’t always ideal. They usually happen during the day, when lighting is harsh, so you may need to take more photos after the ceremony anyway.
When the groom is standing there waiting, he is super anxious to see his soon to be wife. He has that brief moment of silence to prepare for the moment that he is about to endure. With doing a first look, he can be emotional for you. Let’s face it, all brides want to see the groom cry. You are more likely going to see a better reaction when a hundred people are not looking at him.
